OLA backs KES charity fund-raising
THE Committee of the Old Lennensians Association has worked closely with KES in recent years. We have been pleased to donate prizes, attend events and support good causes chosen by the school and its pupils. For example, before Christmas, we were delighted to support a school concert held to support the work of food banks in the town.
It is typical that, even in these dark days of lockdown, with all the difficulties faced by schools, that current pupils have decided to raise money for the Samaritans, recognising that, in a crisis, there are always people who are worse off.
It is perceptive and sensitive to recognise that many people, after weeks of isolation, face real challenges to their mental health. Young people are often stereotyped as uncaring, but our knowledge of the school shows that the opposite is true and that we can be proud of present-day pupils of KES.

Consequently, we are publicising their fundraising efforts and donating £200 towards the work of the Samaritans.
In addition, committee member Michael Fillenham will be doing circuits of his garden bouncing a ball on a table tennis bat. He is seeking sponsorship and the OLA will be supporting his efforts.
We would also like to say how much the OLA admires the work of academy head Sarah Hartshorn and her staff at this very demanding and worrying time.
