Staff from the past

Our two archivists have been busy recently.  Bob Childs has spent a considerable amount of time tracing a Dexter watercolour that was presented to the Head of Hackney Downs Grammar School in 1945.  A high quality copy has been on display in the Fermoy Centre as part of the King’s Lynn Festival Exhibition and Bob has been interviewed on Radio Norfolk about his research.  An article which appeared in The Lynn News is reproduced in the History section of the Archive.

Michael Walker has produced the second in the series on previous Headmasters.  His article on the Revd. Walter Boyce, the first Headmaster of King Edward Vll Grammar School, has been posted in the Former Staff section of the Archive.  ‘Sir William Lancaster gave the school its magnificent outward body; it is not too much to say that Mr Boyce gave that body its soul.’

Do have a read and enjoy these two articles.
