Our published works collection has three new additions covering experiences of war, a life in farming and changes in education.
Under ‘Former Staff Published Work’ is Chris Dixon’s well-researched book published twenty years ago called This Saddening List. Its main focus is on the personal biographies of those named on the First World War Memorial Board on the wall in the School Hall.
The other two are in the Former Pupils section of the website. Brian Reynolds was a boarder at K.E.S. from 1960-67 and his book is a personal journey through his working life in farming, covering four decades of agricultural change.
The third book, by Bob Childs, was used – as was Brian’s work – to raise funds for charities connected with his own medical condition. It looks at the school he taught at in Leicester for 33 years and how it transitioned like K.E.S. from a grammar to a comprehensive school and now academy. Alumni include the actor Michael Kitchen, journalist Alastair Campbell and former footballer and TV presenter Gary Lineker.
