DID SUPERMODEL CLAUDIA SCHIFFER ATTEND KES?
OUR dedicated resident archivist, Bob Childs, sends us this fascinating report:
“While roaming the web I came across this charming group in Emmerich. I am trying to confirm that one of the town’s alumni attended KES in the mid-eighties… namely Claudia Schiffer! I believe she was at KES maybe in 1986 on a two-month cultural
exchange which had started in 1978. Can we firm this up or am I hallucinating? Wonder if [OLA chairman] Andrew would be keen to invite her over to a future reunion?”
Can anyone remember Ms Schiffer’s all-too-brief sojourn at Gaywood Road? If so, please get in touch. And if you need your memory jogging, we include an image of the supermodel in a familiar pose, on the cover of Elle magazine (left).
Claudia Maria Schiffer, born 25 August 1970, is a German model, actress, fashion designer, and executive producer, currently based in the UK.
She rose to fame in the early 1990s as one of the world’s most successful models, and was compared to Brigitte Bardot.
Emmerich am Rhein (meaning Emmerich on the Rhine) is a town and municipality in the north-west of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
This photo (left) shows the “charming group” that Bob referred to at the beginning of his report, visiting the town.
There are certainly some very familiar faces. How many of them do you recognise?
