‘New wine in old bottles’ may suit this biography on John Leathem who, aged only 33, took over the leadership of a long-established grammar school at what proved to be a very challenging time not just for K.E.S.  In his first address at Speech Day he made a strong commitment to learning, school games and activities as well as a focus on ‘turning out good citizens.’  Michael Walker’s article traces his subsequent career at Taunton School and his involvement in many local activities up to his death in 1984.  It is to be found in the Staff Biography section of the Archives.
