Leaving King’s Lynn just before 8 am three OLs – Bob Childs, Michael Walker (1990-2002) and Tony Williams (1958-65) plus one Wyvernian (Graham Conway/City of Leicester School) made their way safely to Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Saturday 11th June for the Second Test against New Zealand. Excellent navigation services were provided by Michael ‘Google Maps’ Walker. Already at the ground were Steve Childs (K.E.S. 1967-69), his son-in-law and another Wyvernian.
It was a long but relaxing and rewarding day punctuated by a sharp shower. My erroneous prediction of an impending England batting collapse fortunately was not realised! Who would have thought that days four and five would culminate in such a breath-taking England victory? Our visit was close to being a perfect day with plenty of memories and new friendships. Several members even had evidence of level 4 skills for NVQ Care for the disabled!
