Completely Off The Mark is the fourth of the popular Mark Barker novels set in and around King’s Lynn, written by former KES pupil and OLA member, Will Stebbings

ON YOUR MARKS…

FORMER KES pupil Will Stebbings is an author whose work is set in and around his native King’s Lynn. His eagerly-awaited latest novel, Completely Off the Mark, is the last in the intriguing Mark Barker quadrilogy of novels, which starts in 1960 when, in Mark’s Out of Eleven, Mark attends an all-boys’ grammar school… (and there are a few thinly-disguised characters there that many OLs will recognise! – Ed.)

The saga continues in Off the Mark and Further Off the Mark, when he leaves school and enters the adult world of office work and girls. This latest novel now finds us in the early 1970s, just as disco music is starting and fashion is moving towards uncomfortable flares, cheesecloth and hot pants. Mark is still desperately single, still having problems with cars and still seeking refuge in his music collection based around soul music.

Surely, Mark has at last found happiness with the lovely Polly? Or is it the horse-loving Margaret? He attempts to woe Helen by taking her for a Sunday afternoon stroll through The Walks and St James’ Park, but that is followed by a road rage pursuit around Gaywood and the Lynn bypass.

All of Will’s writing is set in Norfolk and is peppered with humour and pathos in his easy-to-read writing style. His books have won rave reviews in the influential Best of British magazine

Will’s novels are in both printed and e-book format and can be ordered from any bookseller. You can also obtain copies by contacting him for a generous discount at wstebbings@btinternet.com or direct from the publisher: https://www.3ppublishing.co.uk/authors/will-stebbings/
