A message from our chairman …
FOLLOWING our very first virtual Committee Meeting this week, we decided that, for the sake of safety, it would be unwise to hold any of our events, including our AGM, until next year, when we will arrange new dates. We were reluctant to take this decision but, given the number of members shielding and in isolation, it is clear that, even if Lockdown regulations are relaxed still more, many members would not be able to attend. We considered Zoom but, similarly, many of our members would be disenfranchised because they lack the means to join in.
These times are unprecedented, as is our decision, but we hope that everyone will understand why we have opted to do this. All the usual reports will appear on the website by July 1 and they will be included in the autumn newsletter. We are happy to accept any questions that may arise from them.
Website contributions sought
Many of our members have been using lockdown time to contribute to this very successful website. If you have anything that you would like to add, in the way of photographs, articles or autobiographical material, please send it. The website is without limit!
Our membership has increased to 268 members. Many of our new members have come through the Facebook group and have been attracted by the website, which is linked to the school website. It is not always easy for organisations like ours to keep an eye on the future or to move with the times, but we are trying.
